Smith. Mr. Smith began his career in the paint industry when he graduated from the University of California with a major in Chemical Engineering and a minor in Mechanical Engineering shortly after serving in the Marine Corps in World War II.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-columns has-2-columns is-layout-flex wp-container-core-columns-is-layout-1 wp-block-columns-is-layout-flex\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-column is-layout-flow wp-block-column-is-layout-flow\">\n<p>On December 22, 1964, Mr.\nSmith started a company called Gemini Products. The name for the new company\nwas taken from the constellation in the Zodiac called \u201cGemini\u201d of the twin\nstars. Four years later, because the focus of the business was almost entirely\non lacquer products, the name of the corporation was changed from Gemini\nProducts, Inc. to Gemini Lacquers, Inc.
