Product Preparation & Application
Material Preparation: This product is at application viscosity as supplied. However, this product may be reduced up to 30% by volume for improved flow and leveling. We recommend SOL-9011 HAPS Free Thinner for reduction. If a slower dry time is desired, use only SOL-9012 HAPs Free Retarder.
Application: Temperature will effect viscosity. Gem Prime White Precatalyzed Vinyl Primer is specifically formulated at a high viscosity to enhance grain filling characteristics on porous substrates such as MDF. Apply with conventional, air assisted airless, HVLP or airless equipment. For airless equipment, pressure may have to be increased due to high solids content. We recommend a coating system comprised of one coat of Gem Prime White Precatalyzed Vinyl Primer at 3-4 mils wet film build and 1-2 coats of topcoat at 3-4 mils wet film build per coat. The total dry film build for the complete coating system should not exceed 3 mils.
Clean-up:
Use #500 Gem Coat Lacquer Thinner or SOL-9011 HAPs Free Lacquer Thinner to clean all equipment. Dispose of in accordance with Federal, State, and Local regulation regarding pollution.
